I am so glad to be back and hope you will all join me in a season of renewal. Not only are flowers blooming, grass turning green and birds chirping joyfully, but I am renewing discarded items into treasures for the home.
I have been working hard the last few months getting ready for Junk Jubilee in Des Moines, Iowa the end of April. My friend and I will be sharing a booth, and offering our fun decor for sale. This will be the biggest sale I have ever participated in, and I am very excited. I can't wait to get out there and meet others who love the world of decorating with junk.
I also went curb shopping today and scored many treasures for me and for resale. Some of these items will be with me at Junk Jubilee. I have never really had a chance to "dumpster dive" as some would call it. I was so "drunk on junk" that I couldn't contain myself!
I wanted to share some spring photos from my living room with you. I also recently got a stained glass window. My husband let me get it even though it cost us some pretty pennies. He said, "Happy Anniversary, Happy Birthday and Merry Christmas." I know he liked it too, otherwise he wouldn't agree to let me get it. Enjoy your week and stay tuned for pictures of fun projects I am working on!Rachel Knoblichhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08684413940319519030noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4671927217405880712.post-50155586406337180992011-12-18T19:22:00.000-08:002011-12-18T19:31:53.521-08:00Christmas Wonderland!<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 214px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqj7QJutDbKl-R4gYwUHmD4ECP1LGRStE6RP9t_dG-jL44eeFyZhCMqXS6dWdmwcu15hGYY5dfE4roooUd5ShVDx7fr9mWDYa7lvD3vsN5HWyboqPDjp9QnRPZO5Ae7CwAXmScGKD92Q8/s400/white+tree.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5687677000641203058" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLYMZg2bWi_Ch7pqgcA-Ub4REaXyrIncxQ48mkx8UWQop5nFPJOaj7bGxIhbSTRw8u8jHc0oFZDXIi3PKT26JcWb66RDC9ovsrEXrjKaMFh1DLCJNzrcPVkprxhSy2chR-aNvmmpwR5l0/s400/pink+tree.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5687676988606097122" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgceephbu-4k2Re9BpuBUmSJkuBSltsUCVp2i4iXydUDqQ3UGiSz-0aX_AW94aRaSw23odeM3xrgzs9W7ZfGK340psx6zB5AGDZkr3htMsic29p6xObGWbleZUItrksrzfQ5yp_tqjcjW0/s400/silver+tree.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5687676987901016402" />
I can't believe how long it's been since I've blogged. I couldn't go without showing you some of my Christmas decor. I have my white tree...this year I added big silver stars to the tree...I've always has little ornaments, so I wanted to do something a little different this year. I also am borrowing a tree from my friend Tesa. It's super gaudy pink tree that came from a beauty salon from the 1950's. I love it so much...I may have to buy it from her. Too fabulous! I bought a small aluminum tree this year off of ebay. Of course I'd love to buy a bigger one, but this one will have to do for now. Maybe someday I'll just have a room all decorated with vintage Christmas trees...LOL. I plan to blog some more this week...I have an awesome jewelry tree that I also bought on ebay. I can't wait to show that off!Rachel Knoblichhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08684413940319519030noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4671927217405880712.post-80982366610283986552011-10-10T21:35:00.000-07:002011-10-10T21:42:59.672-07:00Fun Halloween Decor<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 224px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfcWr0XkV4KDua6T772VZbu1EOiljvXY8PRKzyz5U0Gwm7d76k2fKn_aXuphu8403XvUv-VqJ28MvYRRY7Tr7HO23tkizceN545hgHQGNzAH8YTzGXqgCVkbRiXi2j9U9klSNyhmDRZI4/s400/BEWARE+HALLOWEEN.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5662090428105518898" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 282px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7vgYirFWVHwFN_x7oY2siJ_brJX3aY7SVMe2hj2XKYhHlQdZGH60XtEe1xDhzrx66oe_0fobEiGzU3e5Fqr-8oPdjwyUtsmIyQVpZxCknnrvfenOwTP54rYu9UtLNuuMxnBGLrk7tl40/s400/DOLL+HEADS+HALLOWEEN.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5662090416604295986" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2bb5U1s7w4kak7FpWJr2M206X19RUDPXB2d2EBh2ZTqRZplGJElKsdy36ntpHl0gGK_0vwu_b8hwH1n3xxdrd0Mcna5hmwANWj9hps8cQbnrUoQwkl4PTrrZr-haYBt8H3B9mLpxUG_Q/s400/LADY+HALLOWEEN.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5662090408645188978" />
Halloween is right around the corner. I don't do tons of decorating for Halloween as my house is very shabby chic and not the easiest to combine with fall colors. I can decorate my kitchen/dining room because it is yellow and white. I decorate with all kinds of fun stuff above my cupboards including garlands, rusty items, chippy white arch. items, pumpkins, etc. I love using creepy doll heads, black cats, and creepy looking owls. It is so funny using owls...I never wanted to be the lady who collected owls and now I love finding ones that can go with my Halloween decor! I wanted to leave you with some pictures of the decorating I did do for the season. September has been a crazy month for me. I'm hoping October is a little less busy. For my birthday I went to MN for Junk Bonanza. It was so much fun. There was tons of eye candy...lots of fun jewelry and lots of re purposed junk. My friend Lisa and I made a weekend of it. We also went junking in the cities (Minneapolis, MN). We stopped in Mankato, MN and hit the thrift stores there too. Lisa and I both lived there at the same time (not far from each other), but never met. We met here in Sioux Falls at a Junk Fest. We had so many laughs and so much fun. Thanks Lisa for the awesome time!
I wanted to show you a blinged out belt I recently made.
School's in full swing and the kids are all back. Can you believe Ashton is a sophomore, Colewyn is an 8th grader, Hayden is a 4th grader and Westin is a 2nd grader? The time is going by so fast! It's me and McKale at home, so it has been very quiet! We did a little junkin today, but didn't find much. But it was nice to get out and be out of the house for a change!
I wanted to show a few pictures to you of my "Home Sweet Home". Most of it is still a disaster, but I have a few places yet I can photograph. The first picture is my corner of paintings, baskets and my antique dress form. She is wire and I have lights in her to make her like a lamp. I also found this crewel embroidery picture. I often see one's that are more autumn colors. It was nice to find this one in pinks! I love it!

I have let the house go (I'm mean come on...5 boys home for 3 months...you would too)...and I've been creating. I found a blog that just inspires me. It's called A Fanciful Twist and it is so wonderful! Vanessa has so many wonderful ideas on the blog, and she is so generous to share them. Today I tried some of the bracelets that she posted about. Who knew cereal boxes could be made into such pretty things? I am sharing a picture with you of one that I made today. I have made four of them...each is so different and unique. I can't wait to make these for Christmas gifts...tailor made for each person. So unique, green and inexpensive! Hop on over to her blog and check it out. I'm also leaving you with a picture of my candlelit night. Today I am working on initial pendants. I charge $5 each and they are good sellers. so I thought I would try to get some made up. The other thing I made today is a necklace with a spool decoupaged with book pages and a vintage imagine. I also used beads with sentences decoupaged on them. I ripped fabric then dyed it in coffee. I put them all together and also added black buttons. I think it turned out pretty cute! I love it and it is something fun and different.
I hope you all are having a great summer and staying cool!Rachel Knoblichhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08684413940319519030noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4671927217405880712.post-23309519583720448372011-06-22T15:06:00.000-07:002011-06-22T15:15:44.963-07:00Pretty White Wednesday<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNKgKpeh6rGwLqn6gCV_Ua8PuDOQxNl1KGXah4r_EY8-7AP6BfZz8953XJOU1VTUR75uUSZ1-RJL8CFpT4AMjsrboHxQzG1S7PiOKEJOl7XxyMlp61LutOVrvGsl3pZTrIZ6c1cVOF3_4/s400/PICT0001.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5621171287712060898" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhU-CGTGodXQCTelATLEo5n2xMBye_oHNIEqKC8L55sq1dYteES0XNb_BgRmQH8jA60VyY9CjLgWkBzisBxYUujJKYHJF8D9s7ya9TKlaoith7cTSif-85J1B1NaY_BFzOU_uWV_InTblA/s400/PICT0001.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5621171280520380722" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIBBYwUN6l9cpfL-_F-ETXHCXP3udB52_FR6DLqTPiAvT01guyUgkO4RTTuOgoz3qA1w_QQ305BMA8xG6vUrADc6WEXsKxDDIK8uAEL-BN8mQYLM2d-zFfQlKDDEtXxy7Xs-I45c0i4BI/s400/PICT0001.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5621171271751705042" />
It's days like this that I am really thankful for my white and pastel decor. I wanted to share pictures of what I sent my partner, and what she sent me. I made her basket out of a vintage pink daisy hat. I used wire to make the handle and covered it with vintage seam binding. I also put cardboard (cut tightly to fit) in the bottom of the hat. I put flowers on each side...one I put a vintage earring in the middle of the flower. I made her a necklace with vintage pink wall paper and a small paper garland that she could use for a small tree for Easter. I also gave her fun spring scrapbooking or altered art buttons, baby pins, and pink rhinestones. I also put vintage pink rick rack, seam binding and vintage pink glitter. She loves dark chocolate...so she got Godiva gems and a marshmellow peep covered in dark chocolate. The final touch was a vintage pink bunny salt shaker and a small chenille chick. I love doing swaps...I love the little treasures you get! Thanks to my partner Tammie Moore...I love all my goodies. She sent me such great stuff. I had a little mini vacation last week where I got to see my best friend. We haven't seen each other for 18 years because she's been living in South Korea for the last 5 years. She and her husband are missionaries over there and before that they were in Georgia. After all this time it was fun to finally see her and a bunch of my other friends from highschool and my old youth group. I even got to see my old youth pastor and his wife. We also attended his church that he planted about 7 years ago. It was such a great trip. It was like I was a teenager again. We even had 2 slumber parties. I also scored some fun things for my upcoming show this Saturday! For those of you in the Sioux Falls, SD area...it is this Saturday April 2nd from 9 am to 4 pm. It is out in Brandon, SD at Robyn's Nest. We will have lots of fun spring goodies, one of a kind pieces and junk rethunk. Come join us for a fun day of shopping. Directions: The sale will be at 48077 265th Street, Brandon, SD. Take East 10th Street to Highway 11 North and then take a left and go 1 1/4 miles and take a left on 265th Street. I promise to be back soon with more fun finds and decorating fun!Rachel Knoblichhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08684413940319519030noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4671927217405880712.post-31622741762267002522011-03-14T12:56:00.000-07:002011-03-14T13:01:22.390-07:00Easter touches<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKKVycyC6HM8R-aYwiNuCG0eIHsDudPmiUx8uWH8qYjyRzQpAyKwE-ZxSRQJ7Fan6GVeHrU55u8E92RLivUm1hgj7aHSHvbJgWg6Qqm3KzSSwWczQVKoykJnunQRXy1rxFEsbrIXpLVz8/s400/PICT0001.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5584028127655916594" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcXQQ7eBmYTptOU9Lnq-kpW5GXip8GRVAiTnpeUU-Y1zNKFYIBhXnLrFzrzAErGBTiZwPDklTwHzHerDvIxNurL1MUg7v0hGyJn8nc4L3706aFjsxcSss6F5BRBEx3l6A1frusKOVmI0M/s400/PICT0001.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5584028125186592050" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRsdqhKoy-_Pw4xeSV5jenf_xW2wOJPqNFdwVWFYSI8HWFMhg5GZNfRHTm2i7XFuQvEaO1buxg8hyphenhyphengQNb8X4o-FAwDfuKskMUywFUp8rJUV3plXd00_fF8330DNY7QK2gPEG1bSz7k2yE/s400/PICT0001.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5584028119047481026" />
I have been working on a few projects for Easter time. Yesterday McKale and I took a break and headed out to a couple thrift stores. I found this awesome scrolly shelf. Now of course I forgot to take before pictures...that's how I roll. This thing was a really ugly orange color. I knew that I could transform this piece and make it one of a kind. So yesterday between kids and youth group...this is what I did! I love the look. I used old book pages on the back part of the shelf. I'm thinking it's very french shabby chic! Of course I want to keep this one, but with no room in my house-off to the sale it goes! What do you think? I love it so much. I'm working on projects galore and getting all my pretties ready. I've transformed a boring child's cupboard (Sue...I got that fabric on it from you...fits perfect!) I made a gnome shabby and so much more! I'm finding lots of beautiful linens lately, and many of those will also be taken to the sale. The sale will be at The Gathering Place here in Sioux Falls, SD (Saturday, February 26, 2011 from 10:00am to 4pm
209 S. Spring Ave.) The house this sale is in has been redone, and is so nice. It is available to rent out by the hour, day or weekend.
I also got busy making some curtains today for my kitchen. I sold quite a bit of stuff...ok they cleaned my booth out the first day. Wish I would of brought more inventory on Saturday to restock my booth. I did bring more on Sunday but sales that day were awful. Good thing I sold quite a bit on Saturday. I also found a few treasures that made my day. Some German frozen Charlotte dolls...$8 for all three...quite a steal! I also found some darling vintage baby shoes, 5 packs of vintage pink rick rack, a creepy doll (to add to my growing collection) and some vintage ephemera. I also scored some free stuff out of the garbage and 3 dealers were giving me things. You just can't beat that! Leaving you with a couple pictures...have a great week everyone!Rachel Knoblichhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08684413940319519030noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4671927217405880712.post-57454564580805349542011-01-29T23:58:00.000-08:002011-01-30T00:17:59.866-08:00Pretty Things I Have Made<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 368px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUdF202PL2CuqBEr9BIpEpFD26UendNYbYAp2TxYiuVICefxLO2kPSLSkFBgWyW-rgqJjZr8D283hpmWDpS7aZiusA7it_kLpoSXREar3nr3fm6pMvsUS76Php-PZd6ZoKTQlfCu9p7cI/s400/PICT0001.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5567889704503557330" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 319px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjThKObm1cC_H1Yrk5nth7gtXRdx14qjY87rkrAC1QzvF0wSrTHc9cZ4wPHFxg2o7cp9kTw8YVqgCfnUlkg5g5JlCzLyhFdoxEaPO1zhgF2hZDhOpYbHKX3OuMlA_E1_qj7bAV39RC6GXo/s400/PICT0001.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5567889701506559618" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 367px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMMkB3zAAmMbZXCJKz21DM_d8Z2YBxIoF9bq1ji3z3gAYehKfbSseaNeNFujCxsZke44isbYslhhwnoyZovpKgZe3_mYBaO7q7yVgiQkulMCU7B4H7i4XLx8lU7AC_zcLkL1vDJVh7_BE/s400/PICT0001.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5567889697152236946" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 343px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTVy-y6DP2SBwcp0uz7WNExCS-XTgIs9GoRQ3OC6EVV7dlSN0iBFS0Vl3wpMXEScTjPo_E5g4ptuFsTaCTHUmHtqBgWhJZsauPf6tjhdbGxVBLFfzIyrd0uBMHZpxBSGZTe55bmNQQy3I/s400/PICT0001.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5567889684815856978" />
I signed up for a Valentine swap through Sarah at http://mamanjackjack.blogspot.com/ (Makin Projiks). 14 people signed up and had to commit to making 14 Valentines. We sent them to Sarah who will send us back 14 different Valentines. I did this swap 2 years ago and it was so much fun! This year I made these heart necklaces. I started with craft store wood heart discs. I traced the hearts on vintage book pages and covered both sides. On the front I used vintage wallpaper cut into circles. I inserted words that had to do with lovey things. I had leftover Christmas cards that I got at Target in the $1 aisle. I cut out the red bird on branches and put that above the wallpaper. I applied resin on each side of the heart about 3 times each. I used resin on the side of the heart (all the way around) and applied red glitter. I put resin on it one more time to make sure the glitter does not rub off. They were put on ball chains to make a necklace. Kind of a long process, but they are so cute. The ones I sent to Sarah were put in a glasine bag with a cardboard shaped heart made out of more of my vintage wallpaper. I also sewed little lace/button flowers on the heart. They were tied on the bag with vintage red/white trim. Of course I forgot to take pictures of those. I'm hoping Sarah does and I can get a picture off of her later to show you! I have made these six heart necklaces and they are for sale. 5 have silver ball chain necklaces (24") and one has a red ball chain necklace (18"). The sayings are: love songs/From love/had a love/I loved you/to marry/loved him. Each necklace is displayed nicely on a vintage Quizmo card. If you are interested in a necklace they are $15 plus $2.50 shipping. I usually don't sell on here, but these are so cute and I thought maybe someone would like one for Valentines Day or to give as a gift. I also made this pretty journal with vintage fabrics and embroidered pieces. If anyone is interested in that it would be $16 plus $4 shipping. Email me at vintagemama4@live.com if interested. Thanks for looking at my fun projects. I will busy this month with more projects as I have 2 shows coming up in February that I will be participating in. Next weekend I will be at the Benson Flea Market at the Sioux Falls, SD fairgrounds. Come visit if you are local!
PS...Lots of people said they adored my sock monkey...I shabbied her up myself...you don't find them like that. I've been collecting perfume bottles (found 3 in the last 2 days!)...my kids broke some...but now I've got a few and I display them in the back of a toy truck. The cab of the truck is missing and our hand soap bottle fits nicely in there. I really should have a prettier soap bottle...but...oh well! I also have a men's and women's sign in my bathroom. It is framed inside part of an old heater vent...I love the way it looks! I am also leaving you with a picture of some pretty hands that are holding a brooch my friend Heidi made for me.
I will draw a name on Thursday for the giveaway. I have to apologize for that. Call it crazy here with the Christmas season, kids, church and etc. I have had such a messy house due to kids home and life being busy. I still can't seem to get on top of the clutter. I really need to get some organizing done. My craft stuff is everywhere and I dream of having a room dedicated to my crafting. I lost that when McKale was born and I am missing it so much! I am constantly crafting so it seems I can never get anything picked up and looking nice. Right now I am working on a Valentine swap. I have to make 14 Valentine's that are similar. I decided to make heart jewelry with altered art images on them. They are turning out so awesome. After the swap I will post some pictures!
I wanted to leave you with a few pics of redos in my house. I started last night taking down the Christmas stuff. It is a really long process...so it will take me a couple days. Hoping the hubby will take down the tree for me tonight. I took off all the ornies, so now it's up to him. Then he'll get to move a big piece of furniture in that spot, so I can't see him being excited!
I wanted simple new years resolutions that I could keep...so here they are:

1) Smile more!

2) Make more friends!

3) Blog more!

4) Enjoy the simple things!

5) Give my everyday, ordinary life to God...he'll use me!

6) To not make a big deal of little things!

7) Hug and kiss my kids everyday!

8) Ditto for my hubby!

I also wanted to do a giveaway. I've put it off way too long. This little slip was altered with some fun embroidered pieces. I am giving this away with the cute vintage hanger. I will also make up a little sweet inspiration kit. I will put in goodies like buttons, lace, doilies, vintage ephemera, and etc. I promise it will be really fun. Please leave a comment to be entered. Things went really well. I made a new friend who makes the cutest owl hats/scarfs, t shirt scarfs, purses,etc. I got to trade a few things with her. That's always fun...bartering! I've been trying to relax a little this week. McKale is still getting up at night. I think alot of it has to do with not eating enough during the day. He still likes his bottle too much. I only give him milk when he gets up and before bed. During the day he gets water. He's so picky and won't eat much. He is driving us nuts with his pickiness. LOL
I wanted to post some more pictures of Christmas decor around the house. I made 5 different stockings last night. I wanted to share one of those with you. So much for relaxing right? I had the urge to sew yesterday. so I decided to make new stockings this year! I'm also trying to finish up my Christmas shopping...so many to buy for...so little time...and too cold! We had a storm yesterday and were stuck in the house, so tonight I braved the cold to get some more done.
Tomorrow is my son Westin's 7th birthday. Time goes so fast. He is such a sweetie and we love him so much!Rachel Knoblichhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08684413940319519030noreply@blogger.com4
