Pretty Things I Have Made

I signed up for a Valentine swap through Sarah at http://mamanjackjack.blogspot.com/ (Makin Projiks). 14 people signed up and had to commit to making 14 Valentines. We sent them to Sarah who will send us back 14 different Valentines. I did this swap 2 years ago and it was so much fun! This year I made these heart necklaces. I started with craft store wood heart discs. I traced the hearts on vintage book pages and covered both sides. On the front I used vintage wallpaper cut into circles. I inserted words that had to do with lovey things. I had leftover Christmas cards that I got at Target in the $1 aisle. I cut out the red bird on branches and put that above the wallpaper. I applied resin on each side of the heart about 3 times each. I used resin on the side of the heart (all the way around) and applied red glitter. I put resin on it one more time to make sure the glitter does not rub off. They were put on ball chains to make a necklace. Kind of a long process, but they are so cute. The ones I sent to Sarah were put in a glasine bag with a cardboard shaped heart made out of more of my vintage wallpaper. I also sewed little lace/button flowers on the heart. They were tied on the bag with vintage red/white trim. Of course I forgot to take pictures of those. I'm hoping Sarah does and I can get a picture off of her later to show you! I have made these six heart necklaces and they are for sale. 5 have silver ball chain necklaces (24") and one has a red ball chain necklace (18"). The sayings are: love songs/From love/had a love/I loved you/to marry/loved him. Each necklace is displayed nicely on a vintage Quizmo card. If you are interested in a necklace they are $15 plus $2.50 shipping. I usually don't sell on here, but these are so cute and I thought maybe someone would like one for Valentines Day or to give as a gift. I also made this pretty journal with vintage fabrics and embroidered pieces. If anyone is interested in that it would be $16 plus $4 shipping. Email me at vintagemama4@live.com if interested. Thanks for looking at my fun projects. I will busy this month with more projects as I have 2 shows coming up in February that I will be participating in. Next weekend I will be at the Benson Flea Market at the Sioux Falls, SD fairgrounds. Come visit if you are local!
PS...Lots of people said they adored my sock monkey...I shabbied her up myself...you don't find them like that. Her name is Maude and I love her!

Winter Blahs turn to ahhhhs

I don't know how many of you are tired of winter. I am so tired of being confined to the house. We do have a sunny day today, so that helps. I just get tired of the cold, dreary days. I'm sure there are many of you in the same boat. I thought I would help you out by bringing some pictures that hopefully will have you ahhhing! I just covet the days until spring. It is truly my favorite season. The weather, the flowers the smell. I can barely wait. Until then...I bring spring to my home with decorating!

Some Inspiring Bathroom Pictures

I wanted to show you some pictures of my bathroom. I've been collecting perfume bottles (found 3 in the last 2 days!)...my kids broke some...but now I've got a few and I display them in the back of a toy truck. The cab of the truck is missing and our hand soap bottle fits nicely in there. I really should have a prettier soap bottle...but...oh well! I also have a men's and women's sign in my bathroom. It is framed inside part of an old heater vent...I love the way it looks! I am also leaving you with a picture of some pretty hands that are holding a brooch my friend Heidi made for me.
I will draw a name on Thursday for the giveaway. Stay tuned!

Some Shabby Pretties and Give away!!

Wow....I've been gone almost a whole month! I have to apologize for that. Call it crazy here with the Christmas season, kids, church and etc. I have had such a messy house due to kids home and life being busy. I still can't seem to get on top of the clutter. I really need to get some organizing done. My craft stuff is everywhere and I dream of having a room dedicated to my crafting. I lost that when McKale was born and I am missing it so much! I am constantly crafting so it seems I can never get anything picked up and looking nice. Right now I am working on a Valentine swap. I have to make 14 Valentine's that are similar. I decided to make heart jewelry with altered art images on them. They are turning out so awesome. After the swap I will post some pictures!
I wanted to leave you with a few pics of redos in my house. I started last night taking down the Christmas stuff. It is a really long process...so it will take me a couple days. Hoping the hubby will take down the tree for me tonight. I took off all the ornies, so now it's up to him. Then he'll get to move a big piece of furniture in that spot, so I can't see him being excited!
I wanted simple new years resolutions that I could keep...so here they are:

1) Smile more!

2) Make more friends!

3) Blog more!

4) Enjoy the simple things!

5) Give my everyday, ordinary life to God...he'll use me!

6) To not make a big deal of little things!

7) Hug and kiss my kids everyday!

8) Ditto for my hubby!

I also wanted to do a giveaway. I've put it off way too long. This little slip was altered with some fun embroidered pieces. I am giving this away with the cute vintage hanger. I will also make up a little sweet inspiration kit. I will put in goodies like buttons, lace, doilies, vintage ephemera, and etc. I promise it will be really fun. Please leave a comment to be entered. If you become a follower you will get another chance. If you post on your blog about this giveaway then you will have another chance. So you will possibly have 3 chances. If you become a follower and/or blog about this giveaway then please let me know through my email. (vintagemama4@live.com)
Thanks for visiting and I hope to be more faithful with my blogging life!
