More Christmas Decor!

We had our Holiday Occasional sale last weekend. Things went really well. I made a new friend who makes the cutest owl hats/scarfs, t shirt scarfs, purses, etc. I got to trade a few things with her. That's always fun...bartering! I've been trying to relax a little this week. McKale is still getting up at night. I think alot of it has to do with not eating enough during the day. He still likes his bottle too much. I only give him milk when he gets up and before bed. During the day he gets water. He's so picky and won't eat much. He is driving us nuts with his pickiness. LOL
I wanted to post some more pictures of Christmas decor around the house. I made 5 different stockings last night. I wanted to share one of those with you. So much for relaxing right? I had the urge to sew yesterday. so I decided to make new stockings this year! I'm also trying to finish up my Christmas shopping...so many to buy for...so little time...and too cold! We had a storm yesterday and were stuck in the house, so tonight I braved the cold to get some more done.
Tomorrow is my son Westin's 7th birthday. Time goes so fast. He is such a sweetie and we love him so much!

Shabby Chic Christmas Decorating

The crazy life never stops at this house. I did have a tough time with McKale not sleeping again, but last night and the night before he slept through the night! Too bad my body is so used to getting up with him that I couldn't sleep. Praying he continues this pattern so we can get back to a somewhat "normal" schedule.
I'm still working on things for the upcoming occasional sale on Dec. 4th at Robyn's Nest in Brandon. I've made wreaths, ornaments, stockings, 5 re purposed chalkboards and I am hoping to get a few fairy dolls done this week. I will also have some handmade jewelry, vintage Christmas decor and my shabby chic items. If you are from the Sioux Falls area I hope you can make it. DETAILS (Saturday, December 4 · 9:00am - 4:00pm 48077 265th Street, Brandon, SD).
Here are some pictures of the shabby chic Christmas decorating I started. My house is still such a mess. I want to clean, but with this show coming up I need to get my projects and inventory ready. Maybe next week? LOL Have a good one!

Fun Crumpled Paper Wreaths

I am so sorry...I've been missing in action for almost a month. I have been busy with life, kids and trying to knock out projects for Nov. and Dec. occasional sales. I have also just been so tired. McKale is now 19 months and still not sleeping through the night...he wants to sleep in our bed, so I get so little sleep. Not to complain...I am trying to enjoy my time with him as he is the last baby in our family!
I wanted to share a little project I've been working on. I see so many paper wreaths out there...I wanted to do something a little different. I am always making crumpled paper garlands...so I thought I would try a crumpled paper wreath. It turned out so great that I made another one. I love how they turned out. I think they are so pretty...so shabby...so different. I will be bringing some to the Dec. 4th occasional sale at Robyn's nest in Brandon, SD. (more details to come) I have been also making some pretty bird Christmas tree ornaments and green wreaths with vintage shiny bright bulbs. I'm also hoping to get a few fairy dolls made to sell if anyone wants them for Christmas gifts. I will also have my handmade jewelry out there as well as my vintage shabby chic items.

Vintagey Halloween Decor Fun!

I usually don't decorate for Halloween as it is really hard being shabby chic with pink, yellow, blues and whites. I decided to change up my kitchen/dining room so I could decorate for this holiday. My kids are loving it and so am I! I made a wreath from junk. It was part of a drop in sink (round silver piece). I almost threw it, but then thought I could easily make a burlap wreath with it. Thanks to my trusty glue gun-this is what I came up with. The black bird was $1 at the dollar tree store and the sign inside the wreath was $1 there also. I love the look. I also bought a package of 3 black masks for $1.99 and put them on my blank pumpkins. So cute, no?
Leaving you with other little fun decor for the fall/Halloween season around my house! Love this season!

A New Fairy Doll Created By Me!

I ordered a book for my nieces for Christmas. Karla Nathan of Karla's Cottage (http://karlascottage.typepad.com/karlascottage/) wrote a really fun book for her grand daughter. I ordered this book for each of my nieces. I thought it would be really fun to make some fairy dolls for my nieces to go with this book. I already gave one away to a friend's daughter and I sent one to Karla's grand daughter who she calls Sugar wings. I am posting pics of the one I made today. (Planning for this one to go to my niece Vaedah.) I think it turned out cute. I do these dolls all by hand. I tried the sewing machine and I couldn't get it to work out. I love sewing by hand anyways. For some reason it is calming to me. I just work on it while we are watching TV.
I'm hoping everyone is having a great weekend...I know I need to do my giveaway soon. Coming next week!

Fall Outdoor Decorating...JunkStyle

I love decorating for fall/Halloween. We took our kids to Pumpkin Fest today. They got to ride ponies, see animals and jump on inflatables. We went to the grocery store though to buy our pumpkins...they are more reasonable there. The kids and I made "junk" pumpkins when we got home. I am including pictures of them in the blog. I think our front porch turned out pretty "fallabolous!" LOL Have a great rest of the weekend!

Junk Show*Junk Show*Junk Show

This past Saturday my friend Robyn of Robyn's nest hosted a Fall Junk Fest out in the country at her house! We share the costs of adverstising and rental of a port a potty...and it isn't bad at all. The sales were great, and the day was beautiful! We couldn't of asked for a better day! We had many people come out for this show and it sure was alot of fun! I wanted to leave you with some pictures of my wares! I didn't sell the dress form...can you believe it? The mannequin either...I did put the dress form on craigslist so I am hoping to sell it fast! Watch the next few days for a giveaway I will have!

Random things like Junk Bonanza

A bunch of random things today I guess. Last week was Junk Bonanza in the cities and I went with my friend Amy and her mom. We had a bunch of fun and there were so many amazing booths. Do you think I remembered to take photos? NO...duh Rachel! I did get to meet Ki (formally of junk market now junk camp)...we had swapped junk through the mail a while back and so it was fun to finally meet her. Her son Ty took our picture. She is really sweet...hugs and all. I bet she was tired after the show. She puts so much work into it...Thanks Ki for a great event to go to!
I also am getting ready for another "Junk Fest In The Nest" show on Oct. 2nd. All are invited to attend as we will be having lots of vendors out there. I wanted to leave you with some pictures of a few "Halloween" things I am working on. The framed item is a little kids witch that someone made. I believe it to be very old as it was in a box of Halloween items I bought and sold. Most of them dated from the 20's to the 60's. I just thought it was adorable and couldn't throw it out!

September Flea Market

I did the September flea market in town. I can't say it was awesome...but I had a good time and made a little money. I did mostly fall and primitive things since that is what sells well here. I also took my handmade jewelry and sold a few pieces.
This Thursday I get to leave for the cities. I am going to Junk Bonanza with my friend Amy for my birthday. We get to stay overnight and go to the show on Friday. I haven't been there for two years, so I am super pumped!
Leaving you with some pictures from the Flea!

Making over my bedroom

I've been growing so tired of my bedroom...too much stuff...to much clutter. I decided to start cleaning out my bedroom and to rearrange some things. I really wanted to take 2 doors I picked up on Craigslist and make a headboard of sorts. This is what I came up with. I love it. I hate the border behind it and the colors...I am hoping soon we can repaint in there. It is still the way the previous owner had it. I would love to enjoy it the way I like it. So Honey...hint, hint...it's almost my birthday...SO PAINT MY ROOM! LOL
I took some other shots of stuff I did with my bedroom. I collect vintage slips and old nightgowns. I hung them from a grate I love...it's pink and white! And my dresser and mirrors...LOVE THEM!
Hope you all are inspired...I am trying to rid myself of excess and simplify more. It just feels better that way. Wish I could hold a big sale and you all could come...you would find many treasures...and I could declutter. If you saw my garage...yikes! Thanks for checking out this post, and have a great holiday weekend!

Inspiration

I didn't know what to name my post today. I'm feeling a little sad because today I gave my 30 day notice to pull out of my space at Cliff Ave. Antiques. I'm not making much money there...so it's time to move on. For now I will just focus on doing the monthly flea markets in town and the 2 junkfests in the spring and fall. I just wish there was a place here for me that sold items like I do and where the rent isn't outrageous.
Leaving a few pictures with you from my space...it will soon be gone! If you live in town and see something you like then feel free to stop up at Cliff Ave. Thanks!

Creative Projects keeping me busy!

So I really seem to get nothing done in this house because my mind only thinks one way...what can I make? What can I create? I have a mass of mannequins sitting in my garage so I decided last night to alter one. I used patterns, old book pages and sheet music to alter her. I did it in layers to give her a nice affect. I also have spent the week making jewelry. I just can't stop. I'd rather do something creative then clean my house. So please, please don't drop in unannounced for coffee or such because you would laugh at my mess. LOL I did have a mom of a friend of Westin's stop in today unannounced...how embarrassing! I showed her what I was working on to explain the "mess situation" in our home. I think most moms understand. If you are creative and artsy you probably get it too! Create...the house can wait!
Have a great week everyone...probably be spending mine cleaning!

Midsummers Night Dream Swap

I participated in a Midsummer's Night Dream Swap with Heidi German of Vacuuming In High Heels and Pearls http://www.frauleinh.blogspot.com/ She sent me an awesome swap package...I feel so blessed to have her as my partner. I received a Midsummer's Night Dream Tea Party Package complete with cups and plates. The cups had candles in them. I also received fairy dust, dewdrops, little cracker/chocolate mushrooms to eat, books to read aloud, button flowers that never die, twinkle lights, little fairy stickers, moss covered rocks, a wind chime, moonlight path lotion and a pretty brooch to wear. WOW! I feel like my swap package didn't even come close, so I will send some more fun things to her soon!
