Trick or Treat

Well...we had a nice day and evening for trick or treating. The boys had so much fun. McKale slept in the van the 2nd half of the evening, so Dad stayed in the car and I took the boys from house to house. We now have tons of candy...and I have no will power...so good luck with that. Hoping you all had a fun evening with lots of tricks and treats!

Cute Fisherman Costume & Burlap Halloween Treat Bag

Here are the pictures I promised of the costume I made for my niece Vaedah. She wanted to be a fisherman for Halloween and her mom is a busy college student, so I jumped in to help. I was bidding on ebay for a costume, but it went for $27...and that is way too expensive for my tastes! Then I remembered that Westin has a fisherman's hat and orange vest that he is not using. The vest was actually in a bag in the garage awaiting a trip to the Salvation Army. I went to Goodwill and found a women's orange checkered shirt. I cut off the pockets and sewed them by hand onto the vest. I drew a picture of a fish and sewed that onto the hat. I also added a button on the fish for an eye, and embroidered a smile. My husband had a few fishing lures and a bobber, so those were sewn on also. I wanted to make her a trick or treat bag, so I went to Walmart and bought 1/2 yard of burlap. I took the same shirt and cut out a pumpkin shape...used brown seam binding for the stem, nose and mouth. Buttons were used for the eyes. I had barkcloth and cut out some leaves for the pumpkin. I cut out the word treats with this same shirt fabric. I used some tea dyed lace for the top embellishment. I used the same fabric of the shirt to make the handle. I just used my trusty glue gun to put this bag together. I know this bag will last forever because I made 4 of them 5 yrs ago for my boys and we still have them. They are awesome...and can hold lots of candy!

Making homemade soup and my buzzer is going off.

White Wednesday

Another White Wednesday...sorry I didn't post last Wednesday. Some days just get by me so fast. Yesterday I had a very crabby baby...he still is today too. It's all from teething and he had his 6 month check up which meant 4 shots! I would be crabby too. It meant very little sleep for him and for me. Yikes...one tired mama here today.

In the next few days I will post the Halloween costume and bag I made for my niece. It turned out so cute...I had most of it on hand and spent very little to make it! Stay tuned for that post!

Junk Pumpkins

Just wanted to pop in and say hi and show off my "JUNK PUMPKINS". I came up with this idea last night as I was about to throw away a piece that broke off one of my watering cans. It looked like a huge white grin, and I said to myself I cannot throw this away. So off I went in search of some fun junk to transform my pumpkins. I think they are pretty darn cute if I say so myself!

I'm also busy painting up a storm getting stuff ready for the shop, junking for Christmas decor for the shop and making a costume for my niece. She wants to be a fisherman, so I am working on the vest and hat...I will post pics later. Have a great day everyone!

A few things I'm working on

I'm up late tonight...it's already 2:30 am, but I've got things to do. I have been working on a monster stuffed animal for Christmas. I'm making one for each of my 3 younger boys. I got one done tonight. All hand sewn...no sewing machine. I love the way it turned out and can't wait to make the other 2. I'll probably make one for my nephew too. I'm going to make pink ones like this for my nieces.

I've also finished up a kitten order and wanted to show everyone how they turned out. These kittens are so fun to make and they each have their own little personality.

I have many projects to get done this weekend. Lots of painting. I have mirrors up the wazoo to get done. I just keep finding them and they sell like crazy at the shop.

Within the next few weeks I will be putting my Christmas decorations up at the shop, and I will also have some kittens and monsters for sale there. If you live in the Sioux Falls area the shop is Cliff Ave. Flea Vendors (address is) 3515 North Cliff Ave.

Have a great weekend everyone!

My Pretty Kitties!

I've been working on some orders for my stuffed kittens...they are turning out pretty cute! If anyone is interested in one or more for Christmas gifts, please email me at vintagemama4@live.com
They are 10 1/4 inches by 7 1/4 inches (approx.) I sew these by hand...I use recycled fabrics (chenille's for body-vintage fabric for accents). I also love little hand sewn details...check out the pictures of my kittens. Or maybe you have a favorite blankie, etc. that you would like me to use to make a kitten. The possibilities are endless. Price is $15 for kitten and $3 for shipping. I will only be able to take a certain amount of orders...so if you want one...contact me soon!

White Wednesday

I am taking the plunge and joining White Wednesday's hosted by Kathleen of Faded Charm www.fadedcharmcottage.blogspot.com

Some of the photos come from my space at the shop where I rent a booth. Some are from my friend Barb's shabby cottage deck that I took this summer. One picture is from my house...it is of doll heads on white.

I hope everyone is having a good week. It's been rainy and cold here. We had a nice day today, but they are talking of more rain, cold and maybe even snow in some parts of the state. Yuck! I just want fall...no snow here please!

Enjoy....
